Since 2025, all visitors must register on Visit Japan Web at least 6 hours before landing. The platform combines immigration, customs and tax-free shopping into one QR code.

Documents You Need

Passport valid for the duration of stay.

Return or onward ticket.

Proof of accommodation (first 3 nights minimum).

Sufficient funds (no formal threshold; ~$100/day recommended).

Extending Your Stay

Tourist exemption cannot be extended beyond 90 days. To stay longer, apply for a Designated Activities visa from outside Japan.
